Jimmy learned to code and built a business' website in 2 weeks.
Jimmy is currently a senior high school student, freelancer, and basketball player in Vancouver, Canada.
Jimmy began his freelancing, web development journey with 0 knowledge about coding. But what he brought was a mindset. Eager to learn and to improve, we believed in his ability to become a freelancer.
As a front-end web developer who is both learning and working with Community Coders, we asked Jimmy a couple questions.
We decided to ask these questions not to advertise our services, but to ask him his purpose, motives and why he became who he is.
“I learned coding skills, team work skills, and met a great group of friends who I still work with today to become the best version of ourselves.”Jimmy Lu

What is your purpose in life?
"I want to be successful - although I’m still not 100% set on my definition of successful. I want to be an influencer. I want to do things people have never done before, or do things better."
What do you want to be when you grow up?
"The dream is to start my own company."
How are you looking to achieve your mission? What are you going to do to achieve it?
"Hard work isn’t the only thing necessary to achieve a goal. Expanding my connections, talking to people, gathering more resources are all things I gotta do."
Were we able to help at all?
"I was able to learn a brand new skill with web development, but I had so many experiences outside of the course. One of the best experiences I gained was working with other students. Some of these people I worked with are the ones helping me further expand my network today."
Reflecting on your freelancing journey until now, what do you have to say?
Community Coders hooked up a local law firm for me to design a website for. It was a great experience putting myself in a position where I had to work hard. I learned a lot about coding, communication, and time management skills.
What's your short term future looking like?
I'm going to be applying to a ton of universities, and freelancing during my spare time. I'm also looking to learn Social Media Management and keep on working with you guys.
